The Game Changer: Meditation

Life is a journey, not a destination.

I don't consider myself an expert in any area, except in being myself. What has significantly transformed my life physically, mentally, and emotionally? Meditation. It is the game changer. I can't experience things for you, and you are the expert on yourself—but here is how meditation has changed my life and my top tip for getting started.

My first experiences with meditation were frustrating, limited, and riddled with expectations. My number one tip to those encountering meditation for the first time or struggling with getting started, is to drop their idea of meditation. Set aside all your preconceived notions and well-intended guidance from others.

Don't create boundaries for how you can experience meditation and don't disqualify it when your mind continues to wander and your leg is falling asleep after 45 seconds of sitting.

Allowing these occurrences and discomforts is what enabled me to move past them. In two years I have slowly moved from 30 seconds of discomfort and battling my thoughts to 10 to 20 minutes of discomfort and battling my thoughts! That probably isn't what you're hoping to hear, but it's the truth. Although I am exaggerating a little, the process of incorporating meditation into my life hasn't been some blissed-out, metaphysical joyride. It has however, changed my life.

Meditation has become my anchor in the midst of life's storms. It helps me to quiet the mental chatter, release anxiety, and find a sense of calm even in challenging situations. It has allowed me to turn inward and become more aware of my thoughts, emotions, and patterns. This self-awareness has been instrumental in making positive changes in my life and cultivating more fulfilling relationships.

Through meditation, I've learned to observe my emotions without judgment, allowing me to respond to challenges with more grace and resilience. It's like having an emotional toolkit that I can access whenever I need it. It is like pressing the reset button on my mind. In that space I can settle my mind enough to begin encountering my energy and addressing my chakras. It creates the necessary space and time for self-reiki, experiencing healing energy move throughout my body. The end result is feeling more balanced, physically, mentally, and emotionally. It has allowed me to escape the regimen of prescriptions that I took for diagnoses in Fibromyalgia, Chiari Malformation, Migraines, and C-PTSD,

As with anything, there isn't a magic spell or pill for the instant application of a fulfilling meditation practice. However, whatever consistency and genuine effort you can apply will surely result in life-changing benefits.

Om Shanti,

Megan
